Sean Slevin’s Availability (For New Clients)

Location: My counseling office is located at 250 E. Market Street, Harrisonburg, VA (next to Burger King and across from Urban Exchange).
Fee, Insurance, and Cancellation Policy: My counseling fee is $320 for New Clients, and the first session is half-price (i.e., $160). The fee is per-session, not per-person, for up to three people present in a session. I accept Cash, Check or Online Payment (via Venmo, Zelle, etc.). I do not accept credit cards or health insurance, but I can provide monthly statements that you can use to seek reimbursement from your insurance carrier. Note that using health insurance (directly or indirectly) for counseling requires that you meet the criteria for a mental health diagnosis, which then becomes a permanent part of your medical record. Please make your check out to “Transitions Counseling” (or pay online) prior to your visit in order to save time during your session. If you need to cancel your session, please give a minimum of 24 hours notice or you will be billed the full fee.
Discounted Slots Availability: My fee is $320/session. But I offer a limited number of discounts based on your income. See below for current availability of discounted slots. The first session is half-price.

Note: These limits only apply to new clients. I always try to work in current/previous clients, regardless of discount level.
Session Length, 1st Session, and Paperwork: Sessions are normally 50 minutes long. My preference is to have new clients complete the required paperwork online prior to your first session. I use a secure online service which I will send you more information about once you are scheduled. If someone will be joining you (e.g., spouse, partner, friend) please be sure to include their name and email address below—each person attending fills out their own paperwork (so I will need to email them their instructions). If you would prefer to fill out the paperwork in-person you can let me know that in the Comments below (and you will want to plan to arrive earlier for your first session). If you are scheduling an Online Session please mention that in the Comments (I will assume you are coming for an In-Person Session unless you tell me otherwise).
Response Time and Crises/Emergencies: I respond to scheduling requests as quickly as possible (usually within a few business days). I do not provide 24-hour crisis hotline services. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency please call 911 or try the community emergency resources listed in the FAQ.
Using this Form: I recommend that you read the Guidelines and Tips for using the Availability form, and also note the Disclaimers regarding email confidentiality. If the times that you need are unavailable, please list them in the Comments and I will email you if they become available. Please remember that your session is not officially scheduled until you receive confirmation from me.
Note: I currently do not have any openings for New Clients. You are welcome to check this page periodically over the next 3-6 weeks. My availability does fluctuate some so there may be openings in the coming weeks. However, in the Resources section I have written some tips for choosing a counselor which can help if you decide to explore other counselors. Even though I am not currently available I recommend that you consider trying to find someone to work with. Often it is a big step to seek counseling—capitalizing on your initial momentum (that brought you to my website) by continuing to seek other counselors can be helpful to you on your healing journey.
I also provide a YouTube Channel where I engage with anonymous questions about life, relationships and being human. While not therapy (or a replacement for therapy) it can be therapeutic to hear me respond to questions that may overlap with some of your own concerns. And you are also welcome to send me your own anonymous questions if you wish.
